Walk-in or family doctor: which one do you need today?

Both live under one roof at Grove and Johnson. Here's how to choose, why walk-in patients should arrive early, and why visits cover one issue at a time.

A friendly physician in a white coat smiling outdoors

Grove Street Walk-in Clinic & Family Practice offers both same-day walk-in care and ongoing family medicine inside Grove St Pharmacy. They sound similar, but they solve different problems, and picking the right one gets you better care, faster.

Choose the walk-in clinic when

  • ✓You have a new, non-emergency concern today, a cold, flu, infection, minor injury, rash or UTI
  • ✓You can't reach your own doctor quickly
  • ✓You don't have a family doctor and need to be seen now

No appointment is needed for non-emergency illnesses and minor injuries. Patients are seen subject to daily capacity and physician availability.

Choose a family doctor when

  • ✓You need ongoing management of a chronic condition like diabetes or hypertension
  • ✓It's time for a check-up, screening or immunization review
  • ✓You want one physician who knows your history over time

Dr. Mohamed Zaahid Turay and Dr. Adenike Omotayo Lawanson are accepting new patients. Book a Meet and Greet to discuss your health history and learn about joining the practice. Booking the introduction does not complete enrolment.

Two walk-in policies worth knowing

Please arrive early because registration may close when daily capacity is reached. Visits focus on one medical issue, beginning with the most urgent.

A note on prescriptions

Narcotics and other controlled substances are not prescribed at the walk-in clinic. And if your concern is one of the 28 minor ailments Ontario pharmacists can treat, you may not need the clinic at all, start at the pharmacy counter.

For severe chest pain, serious breathing difficulty, major injury, loss of consciousness, signs of stroke or a severe allergic reaction, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Walk-in care is for non-emergency concerns only.
